Vice President Faisal Naseem has said that he will always be in the service of the people even if he does not get a second term as Vice President as he hoped.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is running for a second term on the MDP ticket and Faisal has also expressed interest in being his running mate. However, MDP Parliamentary Group Leader, Hithadhoo North MP Mohammed Aslam was appointed as the running mate at the last minute.

Faisal has not yet commented on the matter.

Speaking to reporters after voting in the second round of the presidential election today, Faisal said he did not work in the hope of getting another term but looked to do the best he could in the last five years. He said he hoped that he had done some good things for the people through his work as Vice President.

Faisal said no one can do everything in the most desirable way and if he gets another chance, he will have the opportunity to correct what he has done wrong.

He expressed his interest in another term because he believes there is still a lot of work to be done in the country and he will always be with the people even if he does not get that opportunity.

Faisal added that he will continue to serve the country and the people in his own capacity in the future and if the next president or the public asks for his help, he will do it.
