Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions is set to research on the 26 people, who have shown interest to be part of the National Integrity Commission (NIC).

A vacancy was left at the commission following the resignation of member, Mohamed Farhad. The five member commission has a term of five years as well.

All 26 candidates who had applied for the position were sent to the Parliament by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. Parliament Speaker, Qasim Ibrahim has since sent the names to the Committee on Independent Institutions for further research.

The 26 candidates are;

The NIC is a commission granted special powers to investigate and regulate authorities and institutions that are tasked with upholding the law.
