Election Commission (EC) has released an interim report on the delimitation of constituencies along with 93 constituencies to be elected in 2024.
EC Vice President Ismail Habib tweeted on Wednesday night that the EC has released its provisional report on the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies for 2024.
The new constituencies to be added in 2024 include:
- • Hulhumale' Central Constituency
- • Hulhumale' North Constituency
- • Hithadhoo Constituency (Hithadhoo, Maalhos, Dharavandhoo)
- • Hura Constituency (Hura, Himmafushi, Gulhi)
- • Kolamafushi Constituency (Kolamafushi, Dhevvadhoo)
- • Feydhoo North Constituency (Feydhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo)
Habib said that with this change, Eydhafushi, Villingili and Meedhoo constituencies will have only one island belonging to that constituency.
Habib said there has also been a change in the names of some constituencies. As such Hulhumale' constituency has been renamed as Hulhumale' South constituency, Guraidhoo constituency as Maafushi constituency, Th. Guraidhoo constituency has been renamed as Guraidhoo constituency and Feydhoo constituency has been renamed as Feydhoo South constituency.
In a notification issued last night, the EC said that it will accept complaints on the provisional report on population allocation for 2024 parliamentary constituencies till October 19.
