Maldives Meteorology has revealed that the country will experience rainy weather over the next few days.

MET revealed to One Online that moderate rain and thundershowers are expected around central Maldives. MET stated that rains and strong winds would be observed occasionally during these days, and seas are expected to be rough. Northern atolls will also receive rainfall, MET said.

According to the weather forecast for the next 24 hours, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places over the north and central parts of the country with wind speeds ranging from seven to 17 miles per hour and gusting up to 10-20 miles per hour.

The disaster authorities have advised people to take immediate measures to minimise the damage caused by floods in the usually flood-prone areas.

Seafarers have also been asked to ensure that they are safe from the weather, that safety gear is in place while venturing into the sea and that the communication system works properly.
