Application has been opened for international driving licences.

In a notification issued on Tuesday, the Transport Ministry said that as part of its efforts to ensure that driving licences are met with international standards, those who wish to participate in the training programme required to obtain "international driving licences" are requested to apply through https://sims.transport.gov.mv'.

Transport sources said only those who have "permanent licences" of A-zone will be allowed to participate in the training programme. International driving licences will be issued to those who meet the criteria prescribed by the ministry.

The 'International Driving Licence' will be accepted in countries participating in the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic 1968, the ministry said.
