The opposition is spreading rumors that the government is exerting undue influence on the re-registration process because it is sure that it will lose the presidential election, the MDP-led coalition has said.
25,000 people have re-registered to vote in the 30th September presidential election run-off, the Election Commission (EC) said. Mohammed Muizzu and his party leaders have also raised questions. Therefore, he called on political parties, international observers, and monitors to look into the matter.
The MDP-led coalition said in a statement today that it is receiving information that opposition politicians are deceiving people who support President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih to re-register in remote areas in order to influence the election. Therefore, everyone should make sure that they are scheduled to vote in the right box, he said.
The coalition said the opposition is spreading rumors that the party is exerting undue influence on the EC's re-registration process in order to disrupt the election as they are sure they will lose the presidential election. He said the MDP would not do anything like that and would not do anything like that.
