More than 25,000 people have so far applied for re-registration to vote in the second round of the presidential election on the 30th of this month, the Election Commission (EC) said.

The Election Commission has given three days to re-register for the second round of the election. It was from 03:00 pm last Friday to 04:00 pm today.

Election Commission Vice-President Ismail Habib said 9,206 people had submitted forms on the first day of re-registration. He said 7,267 people applied online on the first day.

Habib said 16,287 people submitted forms for re-registration on the second day while 11,082 forms were submitted online alone.

From all the applicants, 10,271 have been re-registered so far, Habib said. In addition to this, 1,546 applications have been rejected for various reasons, he said, adding that the applications were rejected because all the required information was not complete.

The forms submitted online to the election are shown as incomplete because the verification process has not been completed. As soon as the validity of the forms is confirmed, the message will be received, he said. Habib said if you do not apply for re-registration by 4:00 pm today, you will not get any further opportunity.
