The government has decided to increase the purchase price of fish to MVR 25.

Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer confirmed the decision to 'One' on Friday night.

MIFCO CEO Ismail Fauzi recently told One that from tomorrow onwards, the company will buy fish at the hiked price and the same will be communicated to fishermen soon.

"We will reveal the details soon. From tomorrow onwards, we will buy it at the increased price," Ismail Fauzi said.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih met with a large number of fishermen in the fishing industry this evening. More than 50 fishermen attended the meeting. The meeting was held in Male' city.

Mifco currently buys fish at MVR 17 per kg.
