The Elections Commission (EC) has opened applications for observers and monitors for the second round of the Presidential Election 2023 scheduled for September 30th.
Election Commission (EC) Vice-President Ismail Habib said in a tweet today that the opportunity is open to those who wish to participate in the second round as observers, monitors, and representatives.
Habib's tweet added that those interested in observing and monitoring the second round of voting and monitoring, as candidates' representatives and on behalf of candidates will have the opportunity to submit forms from today until 15:00 hours on the 17th of this month.
In addition, those who applied as observers and monitors in the first round of the election will not have to make a second official pass if they are active in the second round.
Monitors will have to certify to the EC that the person is working for a radio/ TV station registered with the Broadcasting Commission of Maldives or, a newspaper, or magazine registered in the Maldives.
In addition, if a person applies to become an observer from a civil society organization other than political parties, he/she must not be a person whose name is included in the registry of a political party.
The second round of voting is scheduled for Saturday, September 30th.
