The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into the allocation of land in Phase Two of Hulhumale' during the election season.

The ACC is also investigating the draw process among the land recipients.

“Among the cases submitted to the commission, the commission is also investigating the allocation of land in Hulhumale' and the conduct of the draw,” the ACC said.

Providing land plots to Male' residents is a pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Soloih. He had promised to ensure that land plots are awarded from Hulhumale' Phase 2, Giraavarufalhu, and Gulhifalhu before the end of his current term.

In fulfillment of that promise, 18,955 people will be allotted land under the “Binveriyaa’ scheme, or 9,001 plots, all of whom will be given land and handed over to the registry before the end of this term, the government said.

The Housing Ministry has started allocating land to those who received land in Hulhumale' Phase 2. The land will be distributed to those who received land from Gulhifalhu before November 5 and from Giraavarufalhu next week, the Housing Ministry said.
