Voting for the Presidential Election 2023 has begun and is proceeding across the country, and select locations abroad.

The Elections Commission (EC) revealed that voting for the election began at 8:00am locally, with queues expected to close by 4:00pm.

While voting was set to open at 8:00am, queues at various polling centers were observed starting 7:30am.

A total of eight candidates are competing this year while 282,395 are eligible to vote. The EC further revealed that 574 ballot boxes have been placed for the election.
