Male' City Mayor and PPM/PNC's presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muiz has said that the public should consider protecting the independence and sovereignty of the Maldives while voting in tomorrow's presidential election.

Speaking to PPM/PNC supporters to end the presidential election campaign, Dr. Muiz said that since the people have the power to decide the affairs of the country once every five years. As such, he added that the public should ensure that they vote for the whole country during the election.

Dr. Muiz said the country's economy had plunged into a quandary and the debt owed to various foreign countries and financial institutions had reached MVR 123 billion, adding that the government had printed MVR 8 billion to meet domestic expenses.

He further said that resorts have not been built in the islands allotted by the current government and that under his rule, he would provide ease to the developers to ensure the resorts are built.
