A boat carrying cargo from Male' city to B. Atoll has capsized.

Police said they received a reports around 1040hrs that the boat was going down towards Dharavandhoo and police personnel were deployed in the area.

A local and 12 foreigners were on board the vessel and all of them have now been rescued by police.

One has learnt that the boat was carrying supplies to B. Aidhoo, which has been leased for agriculture.

The boat has submerged and it is unclear what kind of cargo the boat was carrying.
