Police has started removing the campaign banners that are obstructing security cameras placed in the streets.
Police on Monday night took down party flags and banners placed in front of the residence of former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, the leader of PPM/PNC, and also took away the campaign banners of other parties that had been put up in some other areas.
On May 28, the Election Commission (EC) had asked the civic body to remove the campaign materials of presidential candidates installed on the city roads within 24 hours to ensure that the view of security cameras and traffic lights is removed.
However, no political party has taken down campaign materials. Installation of campaign materials that obstruct security cameras is prohibited.
