The first tech lab to be used for vocational training for students has been opened in Thaajuddin School.

The lab was inaugurated by Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali.

According to the Education Ministry, the lab will impart students the skills that are important to learn in everyday life such as cooking, carpentry, and art and craft. The lab will inculcate in them the technical skills as well as the concept of creativity.

In addition to the lab opened at Thaajuddin, special labs will also be set up for imparting individual skills. Special labs will be set up to teach people how to repair air conditions, as well as for electronic work and carpentry, the education ministry said.

The Ministry has decided to set up vocational education labs in 82 schools, including all atolls in the country, while vocational education will be taught in a way that interests the students by integrating labour and skill sections into the subjects taught in the current curriculum.
