Elections Commission of the Maldives have appealed all candidates who contested at the Parliamentary Election 2019 to submit their financial statements latest by May 5th.

Speaking during a press conference held by the commission on Thursday, chairman of the commission noted that all candidates have to submit their financial as soon as possible.

Shareef noted that it was the responsibility of the candidate and all their representatives to submit the financial statements which clearly record the financial transactions and expenditure that were carried out for the election campaign. He stressed that all candidates should submit their financial statements, regardless of a win or lose.

According to the laws made regarding Elections, candidates must submit their financial statements outlining campaign expenditure and how the money was spent on garnering support.
