Economic Minister and MDP's Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail on Thursday stated that the administration spent the past 5 years cleaning up the messes created by former administrations.
Minister Fayyaz made the remarks during the ceremony held on Thursday night to announce the last chapter of MDP's manifesto. He stated that since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih took office, the opposition has only spoken about how Maldives is going into debt.
He added that while the opposition keep saying Maldives is going to go bankrupt by 2026, they have not been able to provide any sound solutions on how they would save the country from debt.
"Over the past 5 years, we mainly focused on cleaning up the messes the former administrations left Maldives in, to bring Maldives to the 21st Century," Minister Fayyaz said.
He added that the administration has invested in all the sectors over the past 4 years and brought great developments to Maldives. As such, there is no better candidate to lead Maldives to greater heights of development than President Solih, Minister Fayyaz stated.
