President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has pledged to increase the salaries of Police, MNDF, Maldives Immigration, Customs Service, Correctional Service and all other Civil Service personnel in January.
Speaking at a campaign meeting held in Baa Thulhadhoo last evening, the President said that harmonization of pay is a policy of the current government and that the government has made positive changes in the salaries of the health and education sectors during the current term.
He said the pay harmonization program will end after bringing a positive change in the salaries of all sectors. The President also announced a positive change in the salary of Police, MNDF, Maldives Immigration, Customs Service, Correctional Service and all other Civil Service personnel .
"Our aim is to bring about a positive change in all these areas starting from January with the budget that will be passed next," he said.
Some of the changes the President plans to bring in the salary of employees:
Salary of a Police constable from MVR 11,000 to MVR 15,400
Salary of a MNDF private from MVR 11,500 to MVR 16,100
Salary of council employees from MVR 7,200 MVR Rs 10,500
Salary of Civil Service Ministry Director's from MVR 16,000 to MVR 23,200
There will be at least 40 per cent increase in the salary of each person, he said.
