State Trading Organisation (STO) has signed to develop Hulhumale' Hospital's Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD).

The agreement was signed on Monday by STO's Managing Director Abdulla Saeed and Hulhumale' Hospital's CEO Mariya Saeed at a ceremony held at Hulhumale' Hospital.

The CSSD is being developed to ensure the surgical instruments and basic materials are cleansed, disinfected, and sterilised. Under this agreement, STO will design and develop the interior set-up, order equipments and install the latter and provide necessary trainings.

The set-up will be brought through Spain's Matachana company.

STO said that CSSD is necessary for all the hospitals across the country to ensure sterile operating theatres. STO added that it is crucial to develop the CSSD at Hulhumale' as the hospital offers services to the growing population in Hulhumale' and patients traveling in from the atolls as well.
