Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that a housing project will be carried out in Fushidhiggaru Falhu.
Speaking at the launch of his manifesto at the Hiyaa area last night, Muizzu said that the government would further reclaim the Giraavaru Falhu to solve the housing problems of the people of Male' City.
"Our plan is to set up 65,000 houses in the Male' area alone, including houses and flats, as part of national development. This will include land that becomes vacant from the re-development of Male' as well as land from Hulhumale', Villimale', Gulhi Falhu, Giraavaru Falhu and Fushidhiggaru Falhu" Muizzu said.
"A large area of 1,280 hectares will be reclaimed in the Fushidhiggaru Falhu. That's three times that of phase 1 and phase 2 combined. This is enough to develop 11,970 houses and 26,500 housing units, under a three roos and four room basis."
Muizzu also unveiled a masterplan on how to develop the Fushidhiggaru Falhu last night. He said his government would ensure that houses are available for all the people of the city. Reclaiming and populating the Fushidhiggaru Falhu is a promise originally made by PPM/PNC leader, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Muizzu said 89 hectares would be reclaimed from Giravaru Falhu and 1,050 plots and 2,800 housing units would be given to the people of Male' City. It ranges between 1,400 and 1,650 sq ft.
