A clash broke out between supporters of the PPM/PNC Coalition and supporters of ruling MDP, who were gathered near the port area of K. Guraidhoo to welcome opposition candidate, Mohamed Muizzu.

One Online has learned that, a scuffle broke out between MDP and PPM supporters who had come out to the port area at around 5:30 pm.

A 22-year-old Maldivian man was arrested in connection with the violence and further investigation is underway, police said. They also noted that

Videos circulated on social media showed some people being beaten up during the clash. The video also shows police personnel deployed to bring the situation under control.

A scuffle can also be seen between some people and the police.
