Urbanco has changed building guidelines in Hulhumale' to allow the construction of 10-storey buildings to be used as residential buildings by the public.
As per the earlier practice, the 'residential plots' allotted for housing in Hulhumale' are built on seven floors with a terrace.
Changing the policy, Urbanco last night issued a notification stating that residential plots can now be constructed up to 10-storeys or 31 metres.
With this change, lifts will have to be installed if they are above 15 metres. The machine room of the lift can be set up from the floor level of the terrace to a maximum of four metres.
With this change in the building rules, Urbanco has increased the new parking conditions and has made it mandatory for parking within the premises of the building.
Each apartment with two rooms will have to have a space to park at least two bikes, while each apartment with one room will have to have one parking space. The bike parking size was defined as a minimum of 0.8×2 m. Car parking has been marked at least 2.5×4.8 metres.
