President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has criticised PNC presidential candidate and Male' City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muiz for stating development should be focused depending on population.

In his speech at N. Lhohi campaign rally, President Solih stated that focusing development of basic needs and services depending on population is against the law. The remarks were followed by Dr. Muiz's comments during his campaign rally in HDh. Atoll where he mentioned he would prioritise islands with larger population for development projects.

Criticising Dr. Muiz, President Solih stated that all islands, regardless of population, should receive equal opportunities for development.

"This is not our policy. All residents, regardless of where they reside, should have equal opportunities. The government cannot differentiate between the people. Our policies have been designed to ensure that the public is treated equally and fairly," President Solih said.
