Former president Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has signed for Jumhooree Party (JP).

Dr. Waheed signed for JP at the campaign rally held at ADh. Maamiligili on Saturday along with his son, Jeffry Salim.

Dr. Waheed was previously with PPM as advisor to former president Abdulla Yameen, but left the party on Thursday.

In his letter announcing his resignation from PPM, Dr. Waheed said he signed up for PPM a decade ago hoping to bring peace, harmony and development to the nation. He stated that while some of it was achieved, there is still a lot to be done to bring economic development and democracy to the nation.
