President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that the Government will begin handing over the plots of land in the Male' area starting Tuesday.

Speaking to the people of Noonu Atoll Kudafari, the President said that housing is one of the most sought-after things of the people today, especially in Male'.

He said 19,000 people had applied for flats in the opportunity opened by the current government to resolve the issue, adding that the government is working to give all of them flats.

"We will give a flat to anyone who has applied and meet the eligibility criteria by the end of the next term. We are in the final stages of giving the land plots in Male' area to their recipients. Our plan is to start handing over the plots from August 15," he said.

He said around 200 families in Kudafari needed shelter and in the next term, a rowhouse would be constructed in the island to provide them with the required accommodation.
