All the candidates contesting at the September 9 Presidential Election have received their candidate numbers today.

Vice President of the Election Commission (EC) Ismail Habib announced the numbers of the candidates at a meeting held at Dharubaaruge.

All candidates, except MDP candidate and President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and MNP candidate Mohamed Nazim, attended the ceremony.

President Solih was represented by election agent and Kinbidhoo MP Mohamed Nashiz. Nazim was represented by his election agent and MNP Vice President, Villimale' MP Ahmed Usham.

The candidate numbers are as follows:

1. Umar Naseer - Independent

2. Hasan Jameel - Independent

3. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih - MDP

4. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu - PNC

5. Qasim Ibrahim - JP

6. Faris Maumoon - Independent

7. Ilyas Labeeb - The Democrats

8. Mohamed Nazim - MNP

While candidate numbers were sorted today, the window for withdrawal of names closed today as well.

The presidential elections are scheduled to be held on September 9. MNDF will provide security to the candidates tonight onwards till the election process is over.
