Fathimath Niuma, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of National Planning Housing and Infrastructure, has resigned.
She resigned from her post last night. In her resignation letter to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih without giving any specific reason, she noted that she was resigning from her post and thanked President Solih for giving her the position.
Niuma, who holds a master's in public policy, had joined The Democrats today, a party founded under the leadership of Speaker Mohamed Nasheed.
Apart from being the Deputy Minister in the Ministry of National Planning Housing and Infrastructure, she is also the Vice-President of the Local Government Authority (LGA).
