The government has spent MVR 32 billion on PSIP projects so far, MDP presidential candidate and President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih said on Monday.
The President, who is traveling to Sh. and HDh. Atoll with coalition leaders for the September 9 presidential election campaign, said the government has spent more money on development projects compared to the previous government.
“During the administration from 2014 to 2015, MVR 22 billion was spent on PSIP projects. Our government has so far spent MVR 32 billion on PSIP programs from the state budget,” he said.
The President said the money was spent directly on services to the people and MVR 5.76 billion has been spent on water and sewerage in 141 islands alone.
The President added that the vote in the upcoming presidential election is about the future of Maldives and it will decide whether to move forward with development or return to injustice.
