The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has warned against using Naturcold syrup for children.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has alerted the company to the presence of diethylene glycol and ethylene glycol in Naturcold, produced by Fraken International of the United Kingdom and circulating in Cameroon, the MFDA said today.

The MFDA said that although the drug is not on the Approved Drug List, it is likely to be imported into Maldives through prescription or other means.

In addition, as a precautionary measure, medicines imported to Maldives will be inspected at ports with special attention, MFDA said.
