Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi has arrived in Maldives.

The Japanese Foreign Minister is visiting Maldives on the official invitation of Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid, and was welcomed at Velana International Airport (VIA) by State Minister Ahmed Khaleel.

Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that the Japanese Foreign Minister will be in Maldives until Sunday night. During this visit, he will meet with Minister Shahid and discuss ways on strengthening the ties between the two countries. The Japanese Foreign Minister is also scheduled to meet Defence Minister Uza. Mariya Didi.

During this visit, the two countries will sign agreements for the Japanese Human Development Scholarships to Maldives and also exchange documents on 90-day visa free access for both Diplomatic and Official passport holders for both countries.

Additionally, Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will also partake in the ceremony to handover the fire extinguisher and ICT equipment to MNDF.

Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi is also scheduled to visit Kalaafaanu School which was built under Japanese aid.
