Maldives Thirdly Democrats (MTD) president and former president Ahmed Adeeb is undergoing a surgery in Singapore, the party has announced.

Adeeb, who has been jailed for 20 years regarding the MMPRC corruption case, was flown to Singapore after receiving treatment at IGMH for what MTD has said is a life threatening disease.

Maldives Correctional Service increased Adeeb's permission to stay abroad until 28 August, on 25 July 2023.

MTD Tweeted on Friday that Adeeb is undergoing a surgery, but did not provide any specifics.

Adeeb underwent medical treatment while serving his jail sentence and has since been under house arrest.
