Health Protection Agency (HPA) has begun a probe into the sudden increase in diarrhoea and vomiting.
Public has been raising concerns since Thursday night on social media, stating that a majority of the children affected were involved in the Independence Day parades.
Addressing public concerns, HPA Tweeted on Friday morning that the agency is closely monitoring the sudden outbreak, alongside relevant authorities. HPA added that they are looking into the cause.
Male' City has seen an increase in the number of dengue and diarrhoea cases this week, resulting in an increase in the number of paedriatic consultations.
Paediatrician Dr. Ahmed Faisal Tweeted on Friday that Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)'s ER is at full capacity currently due to these cases. He urged the public to wash hands and hydrate as much as possible.
