Elections Commission has revealed that the preliminary results of the Parliamentary Election 2019 will be announced tonight.

Chairman of the commission, Ahmed Shareef revealed that this election saw a record turnout for parliamentary elections. As such, he noted that 212,079 people had voted in the election.

Current results project that MDP will win the super majority of the parliament with 68 constituencies out of a total 87. JP leads the pack at second place, however with only 7 seats in their bag. PPM and PNC racked up five seats, and MDA just one.

Six independent candidates have also been elected this time.
