President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that if corrupt transactions of MPs are exposed, his government is fully prepared to properly investigate and take any action necessary.

Speaking during MDPs celebrations for winning parliament majority, he expressed his hopes of the newly elected members to be true to their constituents and work towards the betterment of everyone.

“You all have said no to a corrupt government. You all have tried to clean the parliament. Next is our part. Your decision today reflects your hopes of a true and honest administration,” President Solih said.

He highlighted that if any of the elected MPs are found guilty of corruption, necessary actions would be taken and that if they try to embezzle state funds through corruption, they would have to distance themselves from the government.

“Our journalists now face a huge responsibility. They are the ones who should be holding the government and the parliament accountable. Beware. If we do even a single thing wrong, then reveal it. If an MP is practicing corruption, then reveal it. I am ready to take action. There would be no room for corruption in this government. Anyone who had been thinking of, should immediately distance themselves from us,” he added.
