Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that Jumhooree Party (JP)  leader Qasim Ibrahim was allowed to travel from Singapore to Germany upon his efforts. As such, President Nasheed said that he had appealed to the Singaporean government to let Qasim fly back to Germany while Qasim was receiving treatment at Singapore.

President Nasheed said this while speaking at an event at Madifushi, held as part of the campaign of Parliamentary hopeful for the Vilufushi constituency, Hassan Afeef. President Nasheed severely criticized JP leader and Speaker of Parliament Qasim Ibrahim as well as former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in his speech.

As such, President Nasheed reiterated that Qasim is choosing now, to not remember the tyranny of former President Yameen. He said that President Yameen was unable to draw a breath with ease without throwing Qasim inside a jail cell.

President Nasheed commented on while former President Yameen repeating that a PPM and PNC majority should be elected to Parliament. As such, President Nasheed reiterated that while President Yameen says that he cannot breathe without this majority, he also cannot breathe until his uncle, former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and his son rots in prison.

He says that while 60 plus constituencies at Parliament are under President Yameen’s power until very recently, he has not seen anything being accomplished with that authority. He said that with President Yameen’s tendency to throw politicians in jail, he can also see that Qasim Ibrahim is being played by President Yameen, only to be led into a trap once again.

President Nasheed said that President Yameen will only work to ensure the drop of Jumhooree Party into a pit of doom. The former President also said that this is very clearly apparent to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and all Maldivians.

While President Nasheed has spoken as such, JP leader Qasim Ibrahim has vowed to do everything he can to ensure that MDP does not win a majority at upcoming Parliamentary elections.
