Former President, Abdulla Yameen Adul Gayyom has said that no one should sell their pride for a piece of money that is temporary.

The former President made the remark while speaking via phone call at the campaign launch of the parliament hopeful, Adam Shareef Umaru. The former Defence Minister, Adam Shareef is running for the Maduvvari constituency.

Former President Yameen said that the Presidential Election was one of the biggest travesties in recent history and it was never investigated. He noted that there were a number of suspicious accounts of events during the election. He said that the Maldivian people can breathe easy after the Progressive Coalition (consisting of PPM, PNC and JP). Yameen called to the people to vote for the coalition as their national responsibility.

The former President, Yameen, was released by the High Court, after he was detained by the Criminal Court in relation to the suspected involvement in the MMPRC corruption scandal.
