Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that Agenda ‘19 will ensure that resort workers can go home at the end of their duty hours. Agenda ‘19 is Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)’s Parliamentary campaign policy.

President Nasheed said this while speaking at an event at Gaaf Dhaal Madaveli this morning, which is just one if the islands on the itinerary for his series of Parliamentary campaign visits.

He said that having a stable and happy family life is integral and added that MDP will always work to steer the lives of the Maldivians in that direction.

The former President also noted that the reason that Maldivian resort worker do not get the proper positions is due to resort owners prioritizing the employment of foreign workers. He said that this is due to it being cheaper to employ foreign staff over local workers.

President Nasheed reiterated that this practice will be put to a stop under MDP’s Agenda ‘19. As such, he noted that an employee registry will be assembled at local islands and added that the hiring of foreign workers over Maldivians will be completely stopped.
