President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that while today is the 90th working day of his Presidency, 83 percent of his 100 day campaign pledges have now been completed.
The President said this while speaking at a ceremony held at the President's Office regarding the 100 day campaign pledges a few moments ago.
He said that he has been working hard at ensuring the completion of the 160 campaign pledges that were made during his Presidential campaign. He also noted that it is not an easy feat to complete all these pledges while working with a completely spoilt system of governance. President Solih appreciated the hard work of the Cabinet, every staff at the President’s Office as well as several other institutions in fulfilling these pledges.
The President said that the remaining 17 percent of pledges have not been completed due to several obstructions in the way. He reiterated that in order to move forward, past these obstructions, some of the changes that need to be brought include change in legislation as well as involves the judiciary.
He noted that these changes brought on within such a short period of time has enriched the Maldivian people’s lives. The President highlighted some of these changes. He noted the provision of opportunity to earn first degree for free at Universities in Maldives as well as free breakfast programs being implemented at schools. Additionally, he also highlighted the cutting of electricity costs and reinstating powers that had been removed from local councils as major changes brought on after a short while.
