President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that positive changes to the salaries will reflect in the Health Sector next.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of the third Viavathi Raajje conference in Laamu Atoll Gan, the President noted that those who spend their entire lives dedicated to working deserve their rightful wages. He further noted that with the implementation of a minimum wage in the Maldives, many have seen positive changes to their wages.

President Solih added that challenges in finding qualified teachers and principals for schools had been solved with the positive changes to their wages, highlighting that health sector workers will be next to receive such a positive change.

Noting that there was still quite a lot of work to be done to further solidify the health sector, the President added that the specialist outreach program and mobile laboratory services are aimed at islands that did not have access to such services before.

The government had brought positive changes to the salary framework for teachers and principals, effective May 2022.
