Vice President Faisal Naseem has said that this government will not infringe upon the authority of any sitting of Parliament.

The VP spoke at a Jumhooree Party (JP) Parliamentary campaign event at Maamigili and said that MPs had carried out their work in service of the people rather pitifully. He said that he recognizes this, due to he, himself having been given the opportunity to serve at the 18th Parliamentary body.

The Vice President noted that he is very much aware of what goes on at Parliament and added that tyranny, discrimination and obstruction is now in the past.

He said that it will in fact be the people that end up with happiness, should capable members be elected this time around. VP Naseem noted that as such, members with integrity, such as current JP leader Qasim Ibrahim should be elected to Parliament.

VP Naseem reiterated that the time for all leaders to band together as well as all families to unite with the nation is now upon us. As such, he said that any efforts that needs to be taken up by any citizen of Maldives should be done with utmost seriousness.

He said that with the 19th Parliamentary elections upon us, the people truly need to think regarding matters. He also noted that the people will not forget what has taken place at the 18th Parliamentary elections.

The Vice President said that Parliament should come together in service to the country and added that the newly elected MPs should be equipped with integrity, honesty, kindness, respect and loyalty.

He said that Parliament is one of the most consequential institutions of the country, and as such, the Parliament should remain such an institution.

Additionally, he noted that all decisions should be taken today, in a way that does not cause negative consequences and grief later on.
