Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt shone at at the 64th Filmfare Awards, winning the Best Actor and Best Actress categories respectively.

While the nominees for Best Actor included  Akshay Kumar for “Pad Man”, Ayushmann Khurrana for “Andhadhun”, Shah Rukh Khan for “Zero”, Rajkummar Rao for “Stree” and “Ranveer Singh for “Padmavat”, it was Ranbir Kapoor that ultimately win the award for ‘Sanju”.

Ali won the award for Best Actress with the film “Razee”. The other nominees, in the category includes Deepika Padukone for “Padmavat”, Neena Gupta for “Badhaai Ho”,  Rani Mukerji for “Hichki” and Tabu for “Andhadhun”.

This is the third time that Ranbir took home the Filmfare for Best actor. He previously won for his role in “Rockstar” and “Barfi”. This is the second Best Actress award that Alia won. The first, being for her role in Udta Punjab in 2016.

Alia thanked Karan Johar as well as her father, Mahesh Bhatt and expressed her love for winner of Best Actor, Ranbir Kapoor in an indirect manner in her speech.

Ranbir expressed his gratitude to all the people that worked on the set of  “Sanju”. He reiterated in his acceptance speech that an audience gets captivated by a movie, not just merely for the actor being good at acting and singing - but for soul that is put into a role.

While there have only been rumors that Ranbir and Alia will be tying the knot this year, both stars left the stage hand in hand after the award.
