The case of corruption at Maldives Marketing and Public Relation Corporation (MMPRC) has resulted in the suspension of two officers of the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

Media Coordinator of MNDF, Captain Ibrahim Azim informed One Online that the two officers suspended were Major Ibrahim Navern Zubair and Sargeant Ismail Shakeeb.

He said that the suspension was a measure taken by the government concerning the investigative report released by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on corruption at MMPRC.

The Chief of Defense Force, Major General Abdulla Shamaal had also said previously that measures will be taken against MNDF officers that were in any way involved in the scandal.

The ACC investigative report revealed that Major Naveen’s bank account received a total of USD 100,000 from the company used to launder the money - SOF Pvt Ltd.

While allegations have been made against major political leaders in the corruption scandal, several major companies have also been named in the ACC report.
