Earlier today, helmet-clad muggers threatened staff with an axe and stole cash, worth MVR 2 million being transported in a van by the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Ltd. (MIFCO).

MIFCO CEO Ismail Fauzy informed One Online that the van trasnporting the cash was attacked near the Villa College building. He added that the cash was enroute to Felivaru when MIFCO staff were threatened with an axe. Fauzy, who was on site following the incident explained that this is an exceedingly dangerous situation.

He said that the perpetrators were a total of four helmet-clad people on 2 bikes each and informed that the MIFCO staff that were attacked, were two Maldivian staff and a foreign worker.

Police were still active on scene at the time of One Online journalist’s arrival at the site.
