President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that a picnic island will be assigned near the capital Male' City very soon along with transportation.

The President made the statement during the campaign launch of Eva Abdulla currently seeking re-election to parliament.

Appointing a picnic island for the people of Male' is a campaign pledge of President Solih.

In his speech last night, President Solih said that he has been working to resolve the over population in the capital since he took office. And so some changes have been made already according to the President. He noted that some roads that were previously closed have now been opened.

The President said that the port area on the north of Male' will also soon be moved to Thilafushi of Gulhifalhu. And it would ease the population crisis.

President Solih also announced that a housing project for the citizens of the capital will be starting soon as well.
