Leader of the JUmhoory Party (JP) and Speaker of the Parliament, Qasim Ibrahim has discussed the upcoming Maldivian parliament election with the Indian Minister for External Affairs, Shushma Swaraj.

Minister Swaraj made a call on the JP Leader today as part of her ongoing official visit to the Maldives.

Speaking at the meeting held at the parliament, Qasim highlighted the history of the India-Maldives relations and expressed his gratitute for the Indian aid to the country.

At the meeting, Minister Swaraj said that India would always provide assistance to the Maldives and the relationship between the two countries would continue to improve.
