Garages in Male' City to be moved to Hulhumale'

Garages operating within Male' City are set to be moved to the suburb of Hulhumale'.

With this decision by the government and Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Garages operating in a space less than 1,000 sqft will be given a space of 1,000 sqft in Hulhumale, while garages operating in a space bigger than 1,000 sqft will be given 1,300 sqft.

In addition to this, spaces in Hulhumale' can be developed into two storeys.

HDC noted that garages in Male' are currently being run in small spaces within residential hubs and that the usage of chemicals can often lead to dangerous incidents in such spaces.

The corporation further added that moving such spaces to Hulhumale' would decrease the risk of dangerous incidents.
