President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that government will not allow efforts to create strife with neighboring countries.

The President said this while speaking at a campaign event of Parliamentary hopeful for Naifaru constituency on an MDP ticket, Mohamed Kaarim.

At the event held at Naifaru, President Solih reiterated that the government has been working since it’s very first day, to ensure the fundamental rights of the Maldivian citizens. As such, he noted the dissolution of laws impeding rights such as freedom of expression and right to Information.

He said that every single person has the right to freely voice their opinions in this administration. The President said, however that the government will not give way to efforts taken to violate this country’s peace and interests. He said that the government will not allow attempts to create strife between neighboring or close nations.

While President Solih has said this, the closest ties with Maldives are currently with India.
