Male’ City Council has announced that, in an effort to develop market services, a four storey building will be constructed to house a more contemporary local market. The Council has also said that the fish market will be relocated to the area where current local market is.
Mayor of the Male’ City Council Shifa Mohamed informed One Online regarding the matter. She said that the current fish market in Male’ severely needs changes and added that as such, a more contemporary fish market needs to be established.
Shifa said that the relocation of the fish market to its new spot would serve to provide major reliefs to the current difficulties.
She noted some of these challenges currently faced and said that there are difficulties in crossing the road from fishing vessels to the market. The Mayor said that the new location will provide a more direct access to these vessels.
She noted some of the more contemporary services that will be offered at the new market- which is to be relocated to a larger space. As such, Shifa mentioned that the Council is considering the provision of additionally available frozen fish and dried fish at the new fish market.
The Mayor of Male’ City said that the City Council is considering the relocation of the local market as well.
