President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ratifies the bill passed by the parliament to void any ballot papers that have extra markings and drawings aside from which to cast the vote.

The amendment was ratified and published on the State Gazette today stating that any other marking or drawing aside from the check mark next to the candidate’s name in the allocated box would deem the ballot void and null.

State Gazette also said that the amendment is in effect starting today.

The amendment was initially proposed by the MP for Hulhudhoo constituency, Mohamed Shahid of PPM.
