Minister of Finance has revealed that the land reclamation for the 5,000 plots of land to be given from the Greater Malé Region will be budgeted for the 2023 state budget.
The Finance Minister made the statement while speaking during the parliament session today.
In his Presidential Address during the Parliament opening this year, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih revealed the government's plan to provide 5,000 plots of land for Male' residents. These were split up into three areas, with up to 1,000 plots from Hulhumale, 2,000 plots from Gulhifalhu, and 2,000 plots from Giraavaru Falhu, the latter of which needs to be reclaimed.
Quizzing the Minister about the project, South Henveiru Member of Parliament (MP) Hussain Shaheem had asked to clarify whether the state budget for 2023 will include a budget for the reclamation of land for said project.
In response, the Minister noted that the project will indeed be included in the state budget and that they have already signed the loan agreement for reclamation of Giraavaru falhu.
